Self-medication is fatal to health
A
healthy and fit life is a great desire and need of a human being. Health is the
greatest asset of our life but it is realized only when we lose it, so the
importance of a healthy body can only be understood by a person who has
suffered from any disease. According to health experts, not only does a
well-balanced diet, exercise or walking and beneficial hobbies help to keep a
person healthy, but after a certain age, a regular check-up with a doctor is
important for early diagnosis of any disease. A person doesn't need to go to
the doctor after the onset of a disease, but after some time, a medical
examination can be helpful in the prevention of many diseases at the beginning,
such as blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, heart diseases, and vision problems.
Weakness, kidney problems, etc. In our society, going to a doctor is generally
considered a bad thing, so most people take medicine themselves or on the
advice of a friend or relative even in case of illness.
Self-medication
without a doctor's prescription has many side effects; one of the main ones is
that the unnecessary and unnecessary use of antibiotics leads to antibiotic
resistance in the human body. Antibiotics are a group of drugs
that are used against bacterial infections.
The
rapidly increasing trend of self-medication in both rural and urban populations
is common. Not only uneducated but educated people are also adopting the
treatment. There is a growing trend among educated people to self-medicate
using resources like the internet, which can prove to be very harmful as there
are many websites on the internet that are not authentic.
According
to medical experts, every medicine has a mechanism to work properly, for
example, a medicine should not be taken on an empty stomach because it causes
acidity or may have other side effects or some medicines have side effects. It
is important to take or not take any other medication that a person who is
self-medicating is not aware of and the medication may cause harm rather than a
benefit. A doctor or pharmacist can provide better guidance on which medicine
to take and how to take it. In addition, there are more chances of side
effects. For example, antibiotics, diabetes, insulin, blood pressure drugs,
etc. Doctors prescribe not only the right drug but also the appropriate amount
considering the condition of each patient so that they have an effect.
In
developed countries, such medicines are not available without a prescription
which may cause side effects like antibiotics, diabetes, heart, kidney, and
blood pressure medicines, etc., while in Pakistan all medicines are easily
available without a doctor's prescription. The medicine that first brought
relief to the patient may be allergic to that medicine or he may not need it or
the nature of his disease may be detrimental to the use of the medicine which
cured the patient earlier. Public awareness of this information is very
important to discourage this type of self-medication and save human lives.
Conclusion:
ü
It is important to
always take the prescription of the medicine from a qualified doctor and also
consult the doctor about its side effects if you are allergic to any medicine,
it is also important to tell the doctor.
ü
It is also very
important to see that even if there are any side effects from using the medicine
prescribed by the doctor, tell the doctor and not continue using the medicine
because that medicine may be beneficial for the patient. If not, the doctor has
to give another medicine instead.
ü
Use the medicine
only for the duration prescribed by the doctor, do not increase or decrease it
at will. A healthy society can only promote a healthy mind which is necessary
for the development of the country and this everyone has to play their role not
only at the collective level but also at the individual level so that the
future generation is healthy.
